Aguas Blancas Beach Provisionally Closed: Landslide Risk Alert in Ibiza

Ibiza Incorporated - IBZ INC - All Things Ibiza - NEWS

The Santa Eulària des Riu City Council has taken a security measure by temporarily closing s’Aigua Blanca beach in the Parish of Sant Carles de Peralta. The closure is due to the danger of landslides caused by the direct impact of storm-induced waves on the cliff walls. As a result, the sandy shoreline has disappeared.

Safety Precaution for Visitors

To safeguard visitors’ well-being, the beach will remain closed for a period deemed necessary. Initially, this measure will be enforced throughout the weekend, as it witnesses the highest influx of visitors. Clear signage will indicate the beach’s closure, and first responders will be present to inform individuals who may still choose to access it at their own risk.

Learning from Past Incidents

Last summer, a portion of this coastline was closed due to rockfalls on the sand. In response, this year, the authorities decided not to authorize any beach concessions to limit overcrowding and reduce the risks associated with large crowds.
