Record Prize: Popular Number Brings Joy to Ibiza’s Oldest Lottery Administration
The renowned Ibiza number 1 lottery administration made headlines as it distributed an astounding 4.2 million euros on Saturday, thanks to the prized National Lottery number 27764. This significant award has not only been sold in Ibiza but also in Alicante, Gijón, Colmenar Viejo, and Pontevedra, but the majority of the winning tickets found their way to Ibiza. The lottery office, located on Antoni Palau street, fondly referred to as “pharmacy street,” regularly sells seven series of this lucky number.
A Cherished Tradition: Generations Embrace the Lucky Number
With a prize value of 60,000 euros per tenth, the manager of the lottery office, Juan Mayans, shared that the number 27764 has been a popular choice since the administration’s opening in August 1940. “We are very happy because many families in Ibiza have bought this number for generations, passing down this tradition from parents to children,” Mayans stated with pride.
From Cafeteria to Football Field: The Fortunate Number Spreads its Charm
Beyond the lottery office, this lucky number also sells at a cafeteria located in a large commercial area on the outskirts of Vila. Mayans happily speculated that some workers, having enjoyed a drink, might have purchased a ticket, thus sharing in the fortunate winnings. The number is so beloved that even a local football team, CF Ràpid, participates in the draw for the Christmas “fat” prize using this cherished number.
Engraved in Memory: Memories of Previous Wins
While this is not the first time the number 27764 has brought luck, minor prizes were previously awarded when pesetas were still in use. However, the recent 4.2 million euro win marks the most significant prize ever distributed by the administration with a single number.
Delightful Surprise: Celebrating the Win with Clients
The manager, Mayans, discovered the news of the win while listening to the broadcast of the raffle on Radio 5 of Radio Nacional de España. “We have a habit of listening to the draw, and as it is a number deeply engraved in our minds, we were pleasantly shocked when it was announced as the winner,” Mayans playfully remarked. The lottery administration will celebrate the prize distribution with its clients on Monday.
A Legacy of Success: Four Generations at the Lottery Administration
With four generations of the same family having operated the business, Mayans’ great-grandmother initially began the venture, combining the lottery administration with a clothing store. Eventually, due to the request from State Lotteries and Gambling, she had to choose between the two activities, making the lottery the primary focus.
