A Culinary Extravaganza
The Recinto Ferial in Ibiza came alive this Friday with the inaugural edition of the Ibiza Gourmet Fair, a new event that partners with the 16th edition of the Beer Fair. This dynamic duo of gastronomy and brews aims to become a significant culinary event, enriching the dining options for both residents and tourists. The organizers of this event have described it as a gathering for lovers of local cuisine, with a mission to foster collaboration within the local restaurant industry while showcasing the culinary wealth of the island and its municipalities during the off-season.
Additionally, this new event shared the venue with the long-standing Ibiza Beer Fair, which celebrated its 16th edition this Friday, featuring over 200 different beers. Both events, however, were hosted in different areas of the Recinto Ferial, with the Beer Fair taking place outdoors and the Ibiza Gourmet Fair occupying the right-wing section of the venue.
A Grand Opening
The first edition of the Ibiza Gourmet Fair kicked off with a tour of the various showcooking stands that filled the Recinto Ferial. The renowned restaurant Can Mario treated the public to a taste of traditional Argentine cuisine, where meat takes center stage in all its dishes. On the other hand, the fusion of Latin and Mediterranean cuisine by Ficus Food Lab presented an “Ibiza sirvia chupe,” a traditional South American dish. The Neapolitan restaurant Trattoria del Mar also made its presence felt, as did Tierra de Ibiza, who aimed to “celebrate the island’s traditional dishes” with their mini Ibicencan empanadas, made entirely from local ingredients. Aya Huma also joined the showcooking with a sushi tasting, as did Ibiza Sabors, represented by Marga Orell. Tapas and pintxos came from the restaurant La Cava, which also had a presence in this inaugural edition. Frutos Secos Ibiza, Sa Trugeta, Salewski Artesanos, and Pizza Boys completed the array of stands and food trucks at the event. Finally, Pernod Ricard provided various wines, champagnes, and tequilas to complement the gastronomic offerings. “For the past few years, I haven’t missed the Beer Fair. It’s appreciated that this year there’s a gastronomic section, especially for food enthusiasts like me,” commented Albert.
Beer enthusiasts had the chance to sample a new addition to the extensive list of participating beverages: the Estrella Galicia stand by Distribuciones Rotger. Additionally, the Ibiform Cañas stand featured a robot capable of pouring beer. Music once again played a significant role at this grand fair, with the event concluding on a high note with performances by DJs Jordi Cardona and DJ Javi Box. The Ibiza Gourmet Fair and the Beer Fair will reconvene this Saturday from 7:00 PM until 2:00 AM, featuring the renowned La Movida DJs, Toni Torres, Petit, and Vázquez.
The Ibiza Gourmet Fair promises to be a delightful addition to the island’s culinary calendar, offering a diverse range of flavors and experiences for food enthusiasts. This event exemplifies the island’s commitment to celebrating its rich gastronomic heritage and providing both residents and visitors with exceptional culinary experiences throughout the year.
